Shop: McCulluch & Wallis Report

I recently visited a fabric and haberdashery shop Mcculluch & Wallis in Oxford Circus and would like to share what great fabrics I found there, which would (hopefully) make your hands itch to get down to designing and sewing!

While their selection of trimming and sewing tools is exceptional their fabric section is even more so. I browsed through their printed cottons, as I would love to make myself a top in a vibrant print.

The best way to see what fabrics they've got is to browse through swatch rails they have dotted around the shop. It makes it much easier to see all their selection, the colour choices and compare all different fabrics. You can also take some cuttings to take with you (that is if you can resist from buying it there and then).

The prints I discovered were really special and all in unique colours. This red one with pale blue flowers for instance would make a stunning top which would go well with jeans or dressed up with a smart skirt in grey or navy.

I am  a big fan of polka dots. This large squarish circular print really spoke to me. What an amazing full short skirt it would make!

And then this grey one is really subtle in its beauty. It could be great in any item of clothing, from jacket to skirt or trousers. In fact all the three colour ways of this fabric would make a really cool combo. It's time to get down to pen and paper and start designing!
